needs to be mobile compatible, im putting a 2500+ mobile in it... 266MHz FSB i believe, DDR preferred, doent matter on its speed of the DDR, AGP4x/8x slot required

EPoX EP-8RDA6+ Pro Socket A NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 $78.99

It doesn't need to say that it supports mobile CPU versions, if it says that it supports Athlon XP it's compatible with desktop and mobile version (Mobile Barton 2400+ worked on my previous Socket A mobo), and BTW it's 333MHz FSB (166*2)

Something cheaper? Just choose whatever EPoX mobo you like, you can't get wrong (and of course go with nForce chipsets)

My GF just bought an ECS KT600 board for $25 from outpost.com. Of course no overclocking options, but it has everything you mentioned above.

im also looking to overclock her.... trying to hit 3GHz, so id need a good NF2 board

From 1.8GHz to 3.0GHz, mmm... not possible, i would be suprised if you could overclock it to 2.6GHz.

lol, no offense but you are crazy, you won't even overclock to 2.4GHz, have you ever owned a Barton?

EDIT: Who knows what are those guys using to cool their machines.

LN2, i know how they did it, and yes, i have overclocked a barton before, as did my friend eric, (Master-EVC) and he got what. 2.7GHz with lots of voltage and heat left to spare and his cooler wasnt as good as mine, mobiles overclock better, im telling you right now, if i buy a $75 NF2 mobo, i bet you $80 that i can hit 3GHz on AIR and nothing else, because i wont have to push 1.8V to hit 3GHz

Ok, we'll see, you need some great air cooling and a good NF2 mobo like you said, lol, please no betting :P , and yeah... what's the point of doing that?

what? 3GHz XP? well, i have the processor, the cooling, and the time. i want to make something better for my girlfriend who has a 2.4GHz P4 533Mz BUS

I have a Mobile XP 2500+ and perhaps the best NF2 Ultra400 board around, the Abit NF7-S 2.0 :D not for sale :P

I got an 700-800MHz OC with my chip and there was still room for more. One of the guys from my other forum OC'ed his mobile 2500+ 1GHz. to 2.8GHz, I wish I still had the screenshots of it.

2.5-2.6GHz I got, with plenty of voltage to spare. And the HSF wasnt a great one nor was it a jet engine, temps were still under 50C at load with it.

Once I get it back from my friend after he gets his mobo back, Im gonna mess around with it some more and see how high it goes.
