So i have this option on my creative faitality gamer series and I'm not sure if its good to use while listening to music. I like it for games cause i can hear someones footsteps clearly even when there is caos going on around me and for movies when its quiet and i can hear whispers but for music i just am not sure if its good to have on. Any thoughts. Also if you guys could tell me ideal settings for music. My sound card is pretty beast and I have logitech z-5500's but when i turn up the bass and treble on my creative console it sounds awful and blown out. I personally think music sounds best with stereo x2 just because its full all around. any recommendations

also i have the stereo surround on but i have noticed it makes stuff sound "tinny" and distorted and even some songs will sound completely butchered and wont even really play. Is something wrong with my sound card?

thanks,
Mike

Hi fidelity sound is not really aimed at shaking grandma out of her rocking chair or pleasing a passing bat. If you turn up the bass and treble, which is essentially distorting the overall sound, it's going to be crappy for normal audio.

If you take a look at the controls of your "pretty beast" you may find an equalizer. That will have a number of presets, plus you can customize yourself. Use or create one for your extreme listening and one for normal. Perhaps you could call your presets "Death to the Alien Scum" and "Mother's Music"?
