Slow Internet

I just bought a wirless router so that my other PC could have internet, so I buy the router and I plug it in and everything, and I have a bad signal for the one connected wirelessly, and it even sometimes says it can't find the wireless network. As for the PC that has the router and the modem plugged into it, the internet crawls (i have cable internet, and my speeds are slower than dial up). I was just wondering how this can be fixed so that both computers have faster internet. :(

I have a Netgear WGT624SC Wireless G broadband router.

in anycase, make sure that your cable modem is plugged into the internet/wan port of ure new router, and that you have a cat 5 cable from one of the routers numbered ports to your computer.

as for the wireless one, what kinda signal strength is it getting?
