2 PCs old (W10) and a new PC (W11) both same BT/EE Wifi Access point router and both have working connections from this to Internet, so each PC connectivity is working.
I wish to copy across my stored files to the new PC. .... i.e access to drag & drop files

I enabled file sharing on W10 PC
Went to file explorer ..
Selected my E:\
Right click > give access to > advanced sharing
share this folder’ is ticked
Selected the E:\ and in permission selected everyone
Saved

Sharing.jpg

(pic of shared folder )

I went to W11 Pc (new)
Tried to add W10 PC using
This PC > right click "Add a network location"
Choose a custom network location>
"Network address > \\Rick-pc\e:\

I get error "The folder your entered is not a valid location"
same error if I use \\Rick-pc\e

What do I need to set on W11 PC to be able to get to files on W10 PC ?

Getting pc's to share information can be a pita, trust me. Do you have network discovery enabled? As well as file and printer sharing? Just make sure all pc's are on the same network as far as IP segment as well. If you are working off 2 routers, its possible that each router is addressing a different network. If thats the case then you'll never get sharing to work. Maybe give us some information on your network setup.

Also look through this to see if its setup correctly.

\\rick-pc\e$ is the administrative share path you're looking for

BT/EE Wifi Access point router
What is this actually?

I get error "The folder your entered is not a valid location"
I'd see if rick-pc resolves as a starting point in your troubleshooting.
