Sharing Internet Software

Hi...

I was wondering whether anyone knows of any software which is similar to microsoft's ICS network setup wizard. So basically, I need something which will be able to network two computers together and share the internet from one computer.

Thanks

:)

So you do basically want to share Internet Connection Details with two computers
How are your computers linked. Wired or wireless?

what o/s you using, if its windows, why not just use windows ICS

Windows XP Pro, and if I wanted to use ICS I would of done... And I did use it... It worked for the time being, and then I deleted my temporary internet files (had a virus lerking around in the folder), and poof! The internet stopping working  So, I re-tried the network wizard and checked the details, and I got it to ''partially'' work. It only loaded some websites like googe.co.uk and forum.fng-community.com, but not this website

It was working before, when on the main computer I was hosting a Proxy with "AnalogX Proxy" (name of the software). However, now, when I use this proxy, it doesn't work at all!

So, I'm thinking to try some other software which does the same thing as ICS :)

Phew, thats that stroy over!

Wired or wireless?

Wired. Over a Cat5e Ethernet to Ethernet link. They just hook up from the LAN sockets on Computer A, to Computer B.

So, anyone know of any software? Or does anyone know how/what to do to fix this?

Cheers,

:)

i had a similar problem on my network at home. what i did was uninstall every network adapter on both computers, inc the modem, then when they re install themselves the network wizard should re run, follow this and the internet should work fine. on the downstairs computer in my house, some pages would load, and some would load the top of the page and nothing else, messenger wouldnt load either.

Hmmmm, interesting...MSN Messenger doesn't load for me either... So what you are saying is, you uninstalled every network adapter (like what?) and the modem drivers? Then you re-installed them, and it worked on both because they were both connected at the time? Could you explain in more detail elmarcorulz? Cheers :)

You still didn't answer me, did you want to share the internet connection details on both of the computers?

Sorry :P I want it so that the internet with my modem, on Computer A, is shared with Computer B. Is that sharing the internet connection details?

Basically so I take it your on dial-up or are you on broadband?

Broadband... The modem goes through USB not the Ethernet... The Ethernet is used to connect to Computer B via a Cat5e Cable (Ethernet to Ethernet) :)

lol, sounds exactly the same as my network.

in the device manager, under "network adapters" it should have, on the computer with the modem, the modem and ethernet card/onboard ethernet, and on the second computer it should just have the ethernet adapter. right click each one and uninstall. then at the top, click action > scan for new hardware. itll pick up the network adapters using either the windows drivers, or the drivers installed previously. it should run the network wizard too. if it doesnt, run it manually, making sure the workgroup name is the same on each computer. then go into control panel > network connections, there should be 2, one for LAN the other for broadband. they'll both say connected and one should say shared, the shared one being the broadband. if it isnt shared, right click it > properties > advanced > allow other users....... and of course, if it hasnt run automatically, run the same on the second computer, in the network connections folder, there should be 2 also, a LAN one and a gateway i think is the other one. make sure to follow the network set up correctly ie which computer is host etc. if it doesnt work post back. BTW your not with NTL are ya?
