Sharing Internet Conneciton

Hey, next year I plan on living in lofts that are not owned by my university and one of the downsides is that we have to get our own internet service. There will be 4 people with seperate rooms and i was wondering would we each have to pay 40 bucks for high speed internet or could we share one internet connection. If so how would I go about doing it? Would we need to set up a router in the living room or something? I don't have wifi because I have a desktop...so would i need to get a wifi card to pick up the signal from the living room because we don't want wires going through everyones rooms. Sorry for the long post and lastly will sharing one cable conneciton with 3 other people slow it down A LOT?

It will only slow it down if someone is downloading large files. You definitly can share internet connection via wireless(you'd have to get a wifi card), or by wires. You can get a router and that will share the internet on up to 5 computers. You can just run ethernet up the wall and into the attack, and down the wall into each room. If you dont want to do that, just get wifi and buy a wifi card.

So I need to get a wireless router and a wireless card for my computer and install it inside my computer? I saw somewhere this USB Adapter thingy..whats that? is that like a wireless card but you don't have to install it? and could you guys reccommend some good/cheap wireless routers and cards...I just don't want to be pulling my hair trying to reconnect every half hour...thanks

Yea, those USB ones definitly work. Sorry, i dont have too much time right now, so i cant look up some routers/wifi adapters. I would just go with a linksys router and usb adapter.
