Sharing files WinXP-Vista

Ive done this before, linked my dads computer to mine seamlessly, allowing me to copy photos from his computer that would have taken 10 trips back and forth if they were cd's or flash drives. I could copy photos tghat maybe i offloaded on his computer but had noticed i wanted them...etc ertc...

Anyways what is the required technique or website to describe this process would help immensly. I had tried this before and it had worked but now i cant seem to find a website to describe this...

SOLVED!!!

But i had to turn off my firewall, how can i keep sharing but with the firewall on? I am not sure how to add a homegroup to the list of exceptions oin the list...any ideas??

What firewall do you have? Usually all this is needed is to allow the exception for file sharing in the firewall settings.
