Sharing files/internet

Hey guys, i am kinda noob at networkin and stuff like that, and i have a question. I have a lap top that has wireless internet on it and windows xp and i have a desktop with out wireless internet and it was windows 98, so my question is could I in any way use an ethernet cable (patch/corssover) to share files and internet connection with these to computer. Thanks again.

Both have network cards, and if u have any questions just ask, also if u could give a step by step solution that would be great.

I have the same question, i found it is caled a dedicated network and i do believe it can be done, with xp and xp desktops that is...
