"SHARED" Wireless?

Hey all,

Quick question which I found no answer on google! My internet has been running a little bit slower than normal. And I looked in network settings, and my wireless connection is now showing "Shared". Is there anyway to disable this feature? I do not want to share the connection. I also have an Iphone and I heard if it uses the wifi feature, which I do. It may cause it? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Go to the network connections page, right click on the wireless connection and go to properties, then you should see something about sharing or ICS, uncheck/disable it. That has nothing to do with other devices connecting to your wireless network, it's just if you want to share that connection to other devices which are connected directly to your PC, or if you want to make your PC a wireless bridge.

your wireless will always be shared in windows, windwow does not control who or what access's the internet thats done by the router
if it is running slow check how many people are connected to the router and see if you recognise all the devices connected and if so run some speed test to see if your connection is slow or the computer at
www.speedtest.net
have you tried runnnig scans for virus's/malware etc

No it won't, you can disable ICS from within Windows. You can add security to your network, setup MAC filtering, etc. to make it virtually impossible for anyone else to use it.
