Share printer using 2k and xp

The desktop with the printer physically connected is running XP. my laptop is running 2k and is wirelessly connected to the computer via router (D-Link 524) and pcmcia (DWL-g630) i want to share a printer betweeen the two, i understand i have to leave the desktop which it always is. also, i want to share documents between the two.

Btw, both router and pcmcia have up to date firmwares and drivers.

right click on the printer in question and share it. then you can name it like, \\desktop\printer (for example)

go to your win2k laptop and add a printer, make sure its a network one. Then add the path of the printer \\desktop\printer and the laptop should connect and pull that driver off the desktop. This may have a conflict with two different OSes, but typically a printer driver is no different from Xp than it is on 2k
