I was just wondering if it was possible to share 2 local area networks over the internet. So a computer on one lan could see computers on the other lan like they were on its own lan.

error

When Someone connects to my vpn, they get error 733: yor computer and remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols. This also happends when i connect to my vpn from within my network.

it only works if i connect locally to the local ip, it does not connect locally through the external ip... I have vpn passthrough enabled on my router, and ports forworded to the vpn server.

Damn, thats exactly what i was going to suggest..... erm.... im fairly stumped, you might want to ring your ISP and ask if they actually support it or allow it, but im not sure....

Anyone else, im no expert in this field

when it connects throught the external ip, it connects and then freezes on veryfying username and password. and then after a min or so it sas disconnected.

I am in the same workgroup, MSHOME. I just cant see any computers that are connected through vpn, and the computer connected to my network through the vpn cant see any of my computers.

It seems i'm a little late in the game but i'll speak my suggestions regardless. Before I start, I do have to say I am not entirely sure of the technical details of how this is accomplished. Anyways, our LAN at work consists of about 70 computers and 5 servers. We have 4 satellite offices located throughout Michigan. Of those 70 PC's, about 10 users are not located in Romulus, our corporate HQ but they are on the same intranet. My point? When we log onto our PC's at work, we log onto the work domain. Maybe, if you setup a makeshift server with such and configured your pc's to startup in that domain, this would help your problems.

I dont know how to set it up to connect to a domain, I am running 2000 Pro as my vpn server, and im connecting to my vpn server with a XP Home Machine. I dont think Home can be setup to log onto a domain.

I got it too work, i moved the vpn server to another XP home computer and its working now, i can share files and see computers on my network now
