share files with wireless router

i have a wireless connection from router to laptop and a wired connection from router to pc until i get a wireless card for pc. but can i share files with a wireless connection. i am only sharing internet connection at the moment.the router is a netgear dg834g.
i have read that you have to set up the router to use ad hoc instead of the usual dchp conection is there anywhere to read and walk you thruogh this procedure. is it worth the risk. thanks in advance
 
No, you shouldnt need to change the router settings, the setting is actualy on your laptop, you need to set your network mode from ad hock to infistructor, you can do this in your control panel under wireless networks, just right click the conection and go down to properties and then fiddle with the settings...
