Setting up a wireless network

I've been trying to setup a wireless network between my desktop and my laptop. I've looked all over the internet, but I can't find any good tutorials that make it simple and easy to understand. I am good with computers, but I am terrible at networking. I have everything I need and it is all set up. I have my wireless internet set up and I can connect to the internet from my laptop through my wireless routher. My only problem I think is not the actual hardware, but the configuration of everything. Most online tutorials talk about connecting everything, but I have already done that. So does anyone have a good tutorial on configuring the settings to allow me to share files between the two computers?

Well if you have internet on both pcs, you are almost there.

-Right click my computer, click the computer name tab. Click the button which says change"to rename this computer..."

-Make sure both pc's are in the same workgroup... name it anything

-Go to each of the pcs and right click a folder you wish to share.
Click sharing and security
Under the tab the pops up, click the long phrase highlighted at the bottom, "If you understand..."
Then check "just enable..." anc click ok.

Now your shared, and enabled you want to view the files.
You can do it three ways.
(Easiest way) Double click my network places. On the table on the left, click view workgroup computers.
(harder ways) in internet explorer click and delete the address bar enter \\localip address (ex. \\192.168.2.1)
or \\local computer name (ex \\ bobscomputer)

Press enter.

Thats IT! Share more folders and your good.
If you have WEP key enabled your files are protected, but if not, anyone can see them. Be careful.

Hey thanks a lot man! It's up and running now and I'm sharing files back and forth. I can now also print on my printer which is hooked up to my desktop from my laptop, which is a huge convenience. I used to put it on a cd from the laptop and then put it in the desktop to print. Now I just click print. Thanks again! :)
