Setting up a wireless network at my house

I don't know much about wireless networking but this is what I want to do:

  • connect my telephone socket to my computer so I can go on my broadband
  • connect my laptop to my PC so I can share files and print from the laptop on my printers
  • connect my PSP so that I can go on the internet

I have a ADSL Modem for AOL but no other equipment. The Laptop is wireless enabled but not the PC

Probably the easist thing to do would be purchase a cheap wireless router. Connect your computer though a wired port to the router, and use the wireless with your laptop.

Otherwise, you'd have to purchase a wireless card for your PC and setup internet sharing. That can be a pain, and some routers cost about the same price as a wifi card...

i would agree with the other one my setup is similar at home i have my dad's pc my laptop(wireless) and my pc and my ps2 all hooked into the network at home just get a good router and set up a home network by simply using the wizard with xp if you have any questions feel free to email pm or im me and i will gladly help you set it up!

the phone socket is in a different room to the PC, so i can't just wire it to the router
couldn't i get a USB adaptor?

are you using dial up?? or broadband? if this is broadband then you shoudlnt have a phone socket if its a dial up then you can get usb adaptor they are almost the same price as internal wireless though and the internal ones work much better

He's using DSL as stated... But I don't understand. How did you get online in the first place? I guess you could always setup the router/modem in one room and get a wireless addaptor for your computer.

i'm not sure about if psp does internet or just gaming with the internet you would have to look more into psp's website and see
