Setting up a network

Alright, my family has a wireless router, 3 desktops and a laptop. The laptop and family desktop are set up in a wireless network already that allows an internet connection to both of them. We want to set up the other two desktops so that files can be shared, but not the internet connection. Also, I realize that there is an option within the Networking Wizard to both allow file sharing and allow your files to be seen on the internet. Is there a way to not allow files on the internet but allow file sharing?

whe you set up the file sharin that does not publish those file on the internet. It just mean that the pc will be able to access the net. It doesnt mean that anyone will be able to "get" your files

does that help, or am i miss understanding?

Thank you for that. Now I need to know how to limit two PCs from accessing the internet but not limit them from file sharing.

I think, on your routers setup, you can specify the IP addresses that should be able to access the internet, and only those addresses will have said access. You could give that a try.

You can delete the http protocol from the advanced settings in the network set up. But make sure you have file and print sharing enabled. About the file & print sharing over the net. In the router congig you should have the option to make your network visible over the internet or not. On both of my Linksys routers it's called DMZ. I'm not sure if other brands call it something else.
