setting up a network with multiple routers

i am currently working on setting up an expanded network within my home. i have a wireless router hooked up already, but i would like to have 2+ other computers set up on the other side of the house. so what i was wondering is if you could set up a wireless router to recieve a signal from another wireless router. my other option would be to simply run a LAN line over to that side of the house, but if i can do it wirelessly, thats what i'd prefer.

it doesnt need to be another router, just an wireless range extender

Or setup an access point repeater. I haven't heard to many good things about the actual "range extenders".
I have no experience with either however, I am use to wired networks more than anything. I have wireless in my home but the one router is sufficient for my needs.
