setting up a music server??

so, I am hopefully building my new system when the conroe's drop
will the pc in my sig (or my old 2600+) run a music server fine?

I have googled around and am suggested to use Itunes, but I would like to buy a wireless router, put the pc in the closet, connected to the internet, and the power supply...

so what software should I use to be able to stream/download the music over the wireless network, I would be getting an encrypted router, so others could not download music off my wifi

also, is there an alternative for uploading music besides just putting it on the server pc?

Ran a music server for a while on a P4 (1.8 Ghz) with 256 mb ram. It realy depends on what quality your streaming the music at and how much bandwith you want to dedicate to it.
