server with multiple NICs

I want to buy a small server for our company (for mail, file, shared calendar) and was thinking whether it would be usefull to have multiple network card to spread the load of the incoming/outgoing traffic.

Is it possible to have, let's say, 2 NICs with different LAN IP addresses?

If so I could one for the e-mail and the other for files and calendar.

I am interested to hear your thoughts on this

I REALLY don't think you'd need 2 NICs in the server unless you plan to use it as a router, but yes, it's very possible. I have done it just playing around with a router set up...

As the "The_Other_One" said, you won't need 2 NICs, this won't help lower the traffic a lot unless you are having a huge amount of computers in the network, and if you do, you might consider installing 2 different servers and not 1.

2 NICs, with 2 different LAN IP addresses, yes for sure, this is possible as you can assign every network adapter in the windows network settings a different local IP.

In the company that I work for, we have the same case, a server with 2 NICs in which one of the NICs is getting the main internet connection line and the other is responsbile for connecting the LAN all together, thus providing all the PCs with internet as well as other network resources.
