Separate speaker and headset?

I've got one soundcard on the front of my computer where i have my headset plugged in and one in the back where i have my speakers plugged in.

When i don't have anything plugged in, in the front, the sound automatically goes out through the speakers only and if i plug in my headset in the front the sound goes out through the headset only.

What i want to know is if there's a way to make sound come from the speakers when using certain programs like sony vegas/after effects/fl studio at the same time as i'm using my headset for skype/steam?

Not without changing some Hardware. When you plug the Headphones in the Front computer jack, that physically breaks the connection to the Speakers. Two metal contacts inside the Front Jack get pushed open to break the connection.

I have a usb wireless XBox 360 headphone/mic. I can set it up so I can voice Chat with it, and it doesn't interferer with what is coming out of the PC Speakers.

If I remember I had to go into the Sound properties of each device, and set the Voice Chat to use the Wireless for its purpose, and make sure the Regular Computer Sound Card was set as default for the other stuff.

I haven't tried it with Skype, but it worked for voice chat on Windows Messenger at least. I heard Microsoft is discontinuing the MSN Messenger service in several months, and forcing its Users to switch to Skype, so at that point I will have to see if I can get the same thing set up for that.
