Sending email attachments at 3 megabytes and larger

Greetings.

I want to send a friend of mine a Windows Media Video that is on my desktop and just under 3 megabytes.

I use gmail and it won't allow files that big to be sent. Is there any way I can condense the file to send (without ruining its quality) ? It's a private video so I DON'T want to upload it to a free site and send a link.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can consider putting it on youtube and making it a private video. This way you have to give someone permission before they can view the video, preserving your privacy.

the video won't compress. on the other hand you zip into chunks say 1 meg. Mail one at a time. it will be 1, 2 and 3. decompress the 1st and it will reconstruct the others into one 3 megger. (again). it just ties them all back together again. family has the same problem. winrar works good. i know most proggys should be able to do this.
