Is it possible? Like if you start out with a shell and then work your way from there... Have you done it or do you know if anyone has done it?

closest you can get is a barebone, and really its not worth it...your better off going with something that was built by a factory... desktops are much easier to deal with the large thermal envelope vs the tiny one that laptops have to exist in

I have both a self-built desktop and a factory laptop. Actually, lightning hit our house and ASUS is either replacing or remanning my motherboard for the desktop one. I was just curious, cuz I have like four laptops that people over the years have just been like, "Here, take this. It only runs Win 98. I don't want it." I take it. Don't know why. But I take it. Three of them don't even boot up, but sometimes I give my old electronics to electronics-recyclers, but I have no idea what they do with that stuff. Maybe they reman stuff and make computers for kids in under-developed countries. I don't even know.

Sorry. Btw, your DVD player has Lightscribe? I thought Lightscribe only came with Hewlett Packards/HP?

It is a HP technology, but other manufacturers do develop (did develop) lightscribe drives/media
