Is it alt and print screen held down then alt and C. And where do you put the screen shot. Do you move the mouse to where you want it pasted?

You can either get a program (fraps is good) for games, or you just press Print Screen (usually trimmed down a bit).

Then go into paint/fireworks or whatever and paste it in. Yes it acts like you copied it so don't go copying (Ctrl-C) other file or folders before pasting it.

It's usually Ctrl + Print Screen for me. Although I don't know if the Control button actually does anything. I just use Photoshop and make a new document, paste it in and save. Although FRAPS is a lot easier. It saves the pictures into a file automatically, you can access them from the status bar on the bottom right corner of the screen.

You can use an autohotkey.com script to automatically save screenshot of your desktop
as a jpeg - skipping the whole step of using photoshop/mspaint.
