I am at a loss... I have an SBS 2003 server. Our ISP is Time Warner Roadrunner. We have a DI-604 router by D-Link. I am trying to use Windows XP Remote Desktop to connect to a computer on the domain. So far to no avail. I tried forwarding the port on the router (3389) to the IP address of the computer I am trying to connect to (192.168.0.105). I then try to use Remote Desktop from an outside PC to connect. I have tried the WAN IP address (on the router) and the DNS IP address (also Router). Cannot connect.
So then I tried creating a VPN connection via the SBS 2003 server. I then loaded the disk setup that it created for me to use. I get an error 800 (which I researched and it said the router firmware needed to be updated). I then updated the router firmware. Still get an error 800.
Then I tried a trial software edition of mypctogo.com. I installed it on the PC I am trying to connect to remotely. I then was able to access it remotely. What is the secret? What can it do that I am not? I would prefer to use RD since its FREE! Free is good! I would appreciate any assistance in this matter.
