SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio

Hi,

I have a SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card but also an integrated one - Realtek High Definition Audio. I've got both drivers installed but I can't seem to switch the sound from my 2.1 speakers (about 4 years old) or microphone to use the Sound Blaster card (I use Windows 7 64 bit)

When I tried to uninstall the Realtek High Definition Audio driver, it installed itself back on when I restarted the computer.

Would be really grateful for advice

You need to go into your system Bios at startup....could be either F1,F4,F12 or Del....some machines use diffrent key so you will have to look that one up.

Anyway when yo get into the Bios you will want to Disable the Intergrated sound chipset and save the changes.

then when thats done,go into your control panel and remove Realtek High Definition Audio :) :good:

Btw welcome to CF :)

Hi Nevakonaza,

I did as you adviced, the Realtek Audio disappeared but so did the sound! Could it be because my SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card only has a 32-bit driver (In Controp Panel the Audio Control Panel for my sound card says 32-bit)? Or is the sound card made only for 32-bit operating systems?

Grateful for advice
