Salvaging parts

I have a old dell and i am building a new pc. I would like to salvage the non crap parts like the floppy and perhaps soundcard. To do this would i need to get drivers from somewhere to operate them?

I am getting an Abit Fatal1ty AA8XE and this has onboard 7.1 sound. Should i use the old soundcard and will the new motherboards onboard sound be better because it is newer and a quality mainboard and the card in the dell is old. (A Creative SB Live!) Which would be best?

The main priority is the floppydrive

Many thanks Nick B

I think that soundcard with the abit is pretty good, I'd just use that. I've been thinking about getting the same board(or one of those models) and I'd use it over my SBLive...

As for drivers, it shouldn't be hard to find them somewhere. I think XP has built in drives for XP anyway...

Floppy drive won't be an issue unless it's a fairly new model where it has no faceplate. Other than cosmetics, this won't harm anything. Might help if your new case has a cover over the floppy drive ;)
