That's pretty solid looking to me. Resolution isn't that high but it also means you'll get better performance in games than if you had a higher one. Since the screen is smaller it will still look good though. Video card is pretty powerful for a laptop and the i7 is no slouch. If you're looking for a gaming laptop it's a pretty good deal and I'd bite.

I can upgrade for $30 to a 1920x1080
But I hear 15'6 inch screens are horrible in 1920x1080?

They shouldn't be as the pixel density will be even higher and give you a better picture quality. I'd stay with the 1366 x 768 as your laptop will have better performance at that resolution that at 1080p.

It's just going to be a trade off of picture quality versus performance, as well as the 30 bucks.

I don't think you'll have any trouble seeing the monitor and reading it. When you use a laptop you are close to the screen.

Just use the native resolution of that monitor.

a 1080 screen at 150% icon size will still have more usable space than the small screen. it is worth a $30 upgrade. Gaming performance will suffer a bit but I don't see that as much of a problem. I would rather have a more usable screen and have to turn a few settings down in games.

Just my thoughts.

what makes you think that?

Even so, I think that if you are planning on taking the PC anywhere 14" is really the sweet spot. I just set up a 14" Dell ultrabook with a 1080 display at work. I could see everything just fine.

If you look an HP Pavilion 15.6 Vs. a Lenovo 15.6, in pictures and video, the Lenovo looks a lot smaller.

are you looking through just any videos on lenovo 15.6 and hp pavilion 15.6? Are you looking at the exact models that you are looking to buy? Post the videos.

Different manufacturers will have different sized bezels on their laptops. That will make the screen size look different. I have quite a bit of doubt that professional reviewers would overlook the actual screen being a 13" when it is advertised as a 15.6.

People have been telling me that lenovos are larger bezels, so even though it's a 15'6 screen, it's still smaller. I am looking at the Y500 15'6, and comparing it to the HPpavilions, it looks a lot smaller.

Opposite actually. If it is a 15.6" screen, the screen is 15.6" A bigger bezel would just add more space around the screen. Look over your pictures again. The Lenovo is a wider laptop. Due to the bezel. Not because the actual screen is bigger or smaller.

I see exactly what you mean. I'm probably gonna order this laptop and cross my fingers...
