Router problems

I have recently bought a Linksys WAG54G broadband router and recievers to use the broadband throughtout the house without excessive wiring.

But when I have come to install the router and set it up the router is picked up by the recievers but internet cannot be used.

Is this because the router is not compatible with the static IP address I use or could it be a set up problem, this has gone on for months now and I am running out of options.

The router is connected to a laptop and the recievers are on desktop PCs upstairs.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

You should plug the phone cord from your dsl into your dsl modem... Then your dsl cross over cable into your router.. Then plug in any cat 5 cables (ethernet) that you wish to use. input your settings, id/password... etc. You should then have internet to the router, to the thernet cable and to the wireless computers..

Do you have the router hooked up in this way? Has the internet worked recently or ever with the router?

If you just got your internet and the router then you won't have internet for a little while as they have to set it up for you.
