Router connectivity issues

I just purchased a D-Link DI-624M (Link) router to use with my Westell VersaLink 327 (Link, it's ebay because I can't find it anywhere else.) modem/router and I can't connect with the D-Link. I'm trying to connect to a computer and an Xbox 360. For some reason both keep trying to connect with the Westell. How can I make it so that the Westell uses the D-Link to send out a wireless signal instead?

Keep in mind I'm not good with computers and you're going to have to explain pretty much everything I need to do.

Also, the Westell is the one Verizon sends for free to new DSL subscribers.

EDIT: may there be some issues with going from "802.11g" to "MIMO"?

Anyone? I have no idea why the router isn't transmitting a signal... (I went to the hardwired comp. and in the browser went to 192.168.0.1. and did the setup; in stats it says 0 packets sent wirelessly)

Ok we need to find out some basics...

You say you went to the hardwired computer. Does it connect properly, and do you get ANY internet connection.

Wirelessly, you are unable to connect? Do you see the SSID but i is unable to connect? Or... Do you even have the wireless on?

- There is one computer within ethernet cable range of the modem (which also acts as a router); this computer can connect to the internet.
- There is one desktop, one laptop, and one Xbox 360 (I bought the router primarily for the latter).
- The laptop and desktop CAN connect (barely), but only because they are somewhat close to the modem.
- They are both connecting to the modem/router (westell versalink 327w) and not the router (D-Link DI-624M).
- The only available wireless network/SSID that appears on the desktop/laptop is the Westell (The 360 doesn't 'see' anything).
- When I follow the setup instructions for the D-Link and go to 192.168.0.1 on the directly-connected computer, I log in as admin and, in the wizard do as the instructions say.
- In the wizard, under stats I noticed the Wireless packets sent = 0 (while there are a significant amount of packets sent to the hardwired computer).
- So I THINK the issue is changing the default transmitter from the Westell to the Router, but I don't know how to do that.
