Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit build 7100.

HP Pavillion DV5 w/ core 2 duo @ 2.00ghz, 4 gig ram, nvidia 9600..

Every time I right click, explorer will have an error and restart. This happened to me when I first got the computer and was running vista as well. It doesnt happen all the time; just at random times.

I have and regularly run

AVG virus + internet security
Advanced system care professional
IOBit security 360
Windows firewall
Windows defender
Windows defragger

The computer is about a month old as well.

Hello,

I had the same problem (specifically with .exe files). I solved it by disabling some of the third party thingies in the context menu that you get when you right-click.

You need a utility to allow you to muck about with these shell extensions. I downloaded a free one called ShellExView. You need to run this and set all the non-Microsoft shell extensions to be disabled. You should now be able to right click on stuff without Explorer crashing. You can turn everything back on one-by-one until you find the guilty extension.

Check out,
