Wife who is a retired CPA still using her education and excel and word among with doing email and amazon had her computer die. I have no idea what she should buy today for the things she does. $500 to $1000 is what she wants to spend. Can I get some recommendations on brand and size to buy that can run Windows 11.

Any new machine made today will have windows 11 on it.

so specs to look for would be the following.

1. 1tb nvme drive
2. 16-32gb of ram
3. 4 or 6 core cpu with at least a base frequency over 2 ghz.

If your wife is not doing anything but basic work, 16GB of RAM is sufficient, but if she is still doing accounting which is a lot of data, 32GB should be optimal. 256GB for storage is the minimum for basic use, but I recommend 500GB or more.

Do not get any laptops that have eMMC for storage. Those laptops are cheap for a reason (and IMO useless)

The main brands are HP and Dell, with Dell gets the nod from me for their support.
