Research Done & Components Picked Out: PLEASE Critique my proposed machine!

I didn't want to list my components individually in the other forum rooms because the best component for your machine can change depending on the other components...so here we go in this room.

My last computer build was 5 years ago, and much has changed since then. I was trying to keep the machine under $1k, but that budget turned into $2k. Wow, you really can spend as much as you want.

I plan on hooking up two (2) 19" monitors, will be doing 100mb RAW image editing, and eventually using my computer as the DVR for my security system with 4 - 8 cameras (when they make a PCIe DVR card that supports 64bit Windows 7). No gaming will be done (at least not seriously). Other than that, basic web surfing. Also, I will be operating on Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit). Please tell me if I am going the wrong direction on anything.

Here are the components I am considering:

It looks pretty good. If you can maybe get a 5750/5770 instead of 4870. They both run a lot cooler and draw less power.

^ that. Maybe even a 5850 if you can afford it. If you dropped the RAM to a 6GB triple channel kit, you'd easily save enough cash to do that. You could get 1600 that way, too. You can always upgrade later when the price comes down.

Either of these should be fine. The OCZ has better timings, but the Corsair is...Corsair.

Everything else is great except the card reader, which is out of stock.

The card reader is bad because it is out of stock; or it is bad because it is bad? I couldn't really find ANY 3.5" card readers that were the creme de la creme...all were somewhat cheap with mixed reviews. This is the best one I could find. (Will make it MUCH easier to upload my photos on my CF card used with my DSLR.)

Yeah, the GPU you listed would be bottle necking your system, but I guess it doesn't matter as he stated he wouldn't be doing any gaming.

Bad because it's out of stock, lol. I don't know anything about its quality

That case has a buttload of 5.25" spaces though...you don't have to stick with 3.5".

If you're stuck on 3.5", this seems popular:

Not sure where you're going to put it though...you have no external 3.5" bays

It does have a 3.5" bay at the very top of the tower. The pictures show it with no metal bezel to cover it up, so I thought if I was going to get a media card reader, I could hit two birds with one stone.

Try to get 5850 instead of 4870.

I don't really feel like dumping $300 on my graphics card alone. How about what the others suggested on the 5770?

MSI R5770-PM2D1G-OC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16

$168.99

That is less than $15 more than the 4870 that I originally had on my list. Does everyone approve of this graphics card? It actually does make more sense than the other one too, as it has 4 inputs rather than just 2. If I decide to hook up a 3rd monitor, it will be a piece of cake with the 5770, but would have been a hassle with the 4870.

Ha! If I really end up needing something faster than the 5770, I could just buy another 5770 and run them in tandum with crossfire for about the same price as a 5850. I suspect two (2) 5770s would run faster than one (1) 5850. Correct me if I am wrong!

Yes this is perfect if you are not planning on gaming. Even if you game this card is great too. :)

The 5770 will max nearly any game that's out right now, or very close to it. With that CPU it shouldn't have problems.

You'll probably want to xfire another one at some point though.
