Removing Sound Card Part

I have an AOpen Cobra AW850 Deluxe 5.1 channel sound card and was wondering... The sound card comes with to different parts, one is the actual sound card that is plugged into the PCI slot and the other uses the space of a PCI slot but isn't actually connected to the PCI slot. It is connected to the sound card with a flat cable and has four things on the outside (none of which I am using) Coaxial In, Coaxial Out, Optical In, and Optical Out. My question is, since I'm not using the other halve of the sound card, can I just take it out (I need the PCI slot it is taking up)?

Here is a picture, the thing I am talking about is the one to the left.

Of course you can! Do you have any idea how much extra crap can be added to some of the creative cards?

Well, I say this but something just hit me... My soundcard(and prob most others) won't work correctly unless it either has two jumpers or the front pannel jacks connected. I don't think you'd have such a problem, but yeah, you could I guess.

Just try it! :P
