Helo all
wel,by default when anyone enters My Network Places all the shared files and computers are shown, how can I make it automatically nothing shown?
Thank

One quick way is to make the My Network Places desktop icon disappear off of the desktop. Then that only makes the desktop icon vanish and doesn't disable file and printer sharing which is the main concern there. For removing and not deleting the desktop icon right click on the desktop to choose properties. On the desktop tab look for the customize button and uncheck the box next to it and click the apply button upon leaving the properties.

With Windows Explorer you would right click on the folder's properties in order to set the permissions. The second tab(Sharing) is for setting permissions there for printer and file sharing. MS instructions are seen at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/filesharing.mspx

Thanks, but I know how to share and set permission,
but when you double click on My network places by default it displays a list of all shared folders, I still want to share them, but by default when I press on My Network Places, I do n't want anything to be displayed
Thanks

As mentioned before you can hide the desktop icon from view. One thing you can try is the setting "Run net config server /hidden:yes". This will hide an XP system from view in the network neighborhood. But some can go to the Start menu and down to the Run and enter "fsmgmt.msc" at the prompt there to view all shared files and folders. There are retail softwares for hiding folders you may want to think about. One called Hide My Folders is seen at http://www.mykeylogger.com/hide-files/hide-folders/
