Remote Viewing/Control

Lately I've been hearing about people being able to remotely view your desktop and even take control of it... I'm using an acer aspire one laptop with a wireless connection. How would I be able to know when someone is watching what I'm doing and be able to prevent such a thing from happening... any help would be much appreciated. I've already disabled Remote control through System properties but I'm more worried about how to know when someone might be eavesdropping. Thanks in advance.

Get urself a good antivirus inbuilt with a firewall. Kaspersky or Avira Premium are quite good. And do not install any unknown programs. Thats it.

ok it depends were you are and stuff. If you are hooked up to a work area network, then your boss might get a program such as A/b tutor control or VNC viewer and a your screen will blip or something will come up when they are viewing.

But if you get a virus, then a anti-virus will get rid of it. A blip will happen when they are watching, so maybe bring up a whole lot of you-know-what's up and they will turn away and leave.

To connect via ANY remote control protocol, be it VNC, SSH etc, you should be asked for credentials such as username and password. Also, if you're behind a router you will have a non-routable internal address (192.168.x.x) which requires port forwarding to be able to connect to your laptop from outside the network.
