remote control

I have two computers and only one monitor. I'm getting tired of diving underneath my desk to switch the cables so I started looking at alternate solutions. I know there's the option of buying a KVM switch but I also read about this built in windows remote control utility. I looked up some videos of it but it seems pretty laggy. Do you know of any other ways of connecting two pcs via a ethernet cable that lets you switch between computers?

KVM switch or a remote client such as Remote Desktop Connection or LogMeIn or TeamViewer is what you'll need. The only downside on remote clients is you can't use your graphics card to its full capacity. So if you're looking to game through a remote desktop connection, forget it. Get a KVM switch.

Never had the best experiences with KVM switches, so read reviews before you buy, but that will be more ideal for you than using RDC or something similar. Using remote desktop sfotware can be a bit slow and laggy as you mentioned.

KVM switch it is I guess, like you guys said there doesn't seem to be any remote desktop program that doesn't lag and I do want to do gaming on both pcs. The main reason why I use both of them is cause one of them is win8 and the other one is win7 and some older games don't seem to work on win8 so I just go to the win7 one.
