Reformating PC

I have this weird feeling I did something wrong during the installation and making of my PC and it's effecting my TV-Tuner / Video game capture card usage. I cannot get a single capture card I get on ebay to internet stream well.

Either there's video desyncs, audio desyncs, stuttering, freezing. I've tried 4 different cards and none of them work on my PC [each with its own different problem]...I'm thinking its something wrong with my PC.

This was the first time I had purchased all my parts individually and created it myself and I may have done the installation wrong on some of the software stuff.

Here was my build: http://www.computerforum.com/209197-building-new-pc-need-help-2.html

I'm hellbent on reformatting the OS on this PC. I'm out of options here and dont know what to do.

I have a SSD for my OS and a HDD with all my videos / pictures / music etc. I do not want to delete the HDD contents if possible.

Secondly, is there a guide on EVERYTHING I should and should not do on reformatting and or installing windows and everything along with it properly? i.e. I didn't put my SSD into AHCI mode or whatever it was and had to do it later on...that would have been one thing I needed to do before and is there a guide that shows all the pitfalls I'd run into etc etc etc?

You used the brass standoffs between motherboard and case? You should put the SSD in ahci mode, you'll get better performance. If you want to format and reinstall all you need to do is boot to the install cd, delete exisiting partitions and then repartition and install windows.
