Hey all, anyone know what im doing wrong here. I need to record the same as what I can hear, as in i want to record the line out.

Using the 6 channel High Def Audio on board the 680i SLi. The recording section in "Sounds and Audio Devices" doesnt list it, it only lists the HD inputs and HD digital inputs, it doesnt list the HD ouput as a recording source.

So, anyone know whats going on?

cheers, dragon2309

You can use Audacity, choose either Stereo or Mono mix as source and then just hit record, just make sure you put the volume down since I had to nearly turn it off so that it wouldn't distort.

I noticed that now that I have a X-Fi sound card the option is called What U Hear, but when I used my motherboards integrated soundchip it was Stereo Mix.

When you look at the Recording properties, do you see anything like this? If you do, enable it...

Then, make sure this box is ticked. Then do as mrjack says, pick "Stereo Mix" in your recording application. Don't forget to temporarily turn off your System Sounds if you use them!

Ok, sorted now, in a round about way. There are several HD audio input and output options, there wasnt one central controller for it, damn eVGA and there crazy high def audio thingy ma jiggy.

But yeh, on on of the sound input devices it has one marked stereo mix, ticked it but the slider to control volume was greyed out, it only had the master volume control for that entire device, turns out that the master for audio input is different for the amster for whatever my PC uses to output to speakers, so yeh, it sort of works now, and like mrjack said, i do have to turn it down to almost OFF to get it to not distort. But at least its working now, i can get on with what i was doing

Cheers all, dragon
