record using a different computer?

My desktop computer can run the games I play smoothly, but with some games recording them adds too much lag. I have a laptop, and I was wondering if there is anyway I could record what is being displayed on my desktop's monitor through my laptop so I dont have any lag. Would some type of capture card work?

with minecraft I use fraps. I have it set to record at 30 and I get around 20-30 fps while recording. I also tried hypercam and camtasia which I thought would cause less lag, but fraps seems to do the job better.
 
Have you tryed to use programs like MemTurbo on that game while recording?
It helped me couple of times.I used MemTurbo 3.0.
Just be sure to configure it properly otherwise it will not have any effects.
