Record direct from sound card

Hi, i need a FREE program that will record anything that is played on my PC. like if a song was playing i could record it, basically a program that will record ANY data flowing through the sound card, any suggestions.


THIS IS QUITE URGENT
 
anything that records sound can record from your sound card. You have to set your recording input from microphone to Stereo mix. Here is how,

1. go to volume options
2. go to "Options" then "Properties"
3. click the "recording" option and then check the box "Stereo Mix" then click "OK"
4. This should go to what looks like the volume options. Click the "Select" box under Stereo Mix. Take the volume tab under stereo mix and turn it all the way down. Turning the volume up will record at a volume above what volume the sound is already at, it will be very loud and probably bad quality.
5. download any program that can record sound...
