recently moved - low strength, Disconnects every 5 minutes, router 15 feet away.

I just moved into a new room in a new house. The modem is super fast until i connected a wireless network. The signal strength is very low and the router is about 15 feet away. I keep getting disconnects every 5 minutes. Can anyone explain this? Where i used to live which was last month, the router was fine.
 
Check for other wireless interference in the area, cell phone, wireless home phone.. etc. Also try changing the channel the signal is broadcasted on. That will be in the settings.
 
There must be some other devices interfering with the signal, go into the router settings and change the chanel, this should solve your problem.
 
That might also explain why my tv keeps changing channels automatically.
I went into my settings for my router and i am unable to change the channel, it says i only have 1 channel?
 
are you sure there is no way to change the channel it is broadcasting on?
don't all routers have this option?
 
There is an option for that, but there are no other channels. It only says i can change it to one channel. And that's the channel i'm on. No m ore channels on the list.
