Reccomend Me A Soundcard.

Im looking for a soundcard that I can plug my amp into (the red and white plugs) so I can use my headphones with traktor DJ Studio. At the moment when I plug the headphones in it cancels out the sound from my speakers and I hear everything from my headphones. I heard the Audigy range are good. Im looking to spend £50 or maybe higher.

Any suggestions?

It quotes in the Traktor Readme File

"It is best to use TRAKTOR with a multiple output sound card so that you can pre-listen to a track in your headphones before bringing it into the main mix."

You mean RCA-cables.

And yes the Audigy series are very good cards. Look for Audigy 4 and 2 ZS cards.

I can't see any RCA inputs on the I/O or sound card and I looked at other pics on google. But you can get a 3.5mm to RCA adapter or 6.3mm to RCA adapter.

I take it they are 3.5mm on the audigy 4?
And does it have multiple outputs?

Another thing it says it doesnt mention Windows Xp x64, but it should be compatible right?

It seemes like the sound card itself has 3.5mm and the I/O has 6.3mm.

As for the Windows XP x64 support, this is what it says on Creative's homepage about the Audigy 4 series.

Support for Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition

* Requires a 64-bit processor - either Intel Pentium 4 with EM64T or AMD Athlon™ 64 processor

After emailing the ebay seller I found out the card is compatible with Windows Xp x64 but does not have RCA inputs, can you reccomend a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and a 6.3mm to RCA adapter?

Also, what is this multiple outputs? I havnt found anything about this but it says in the Traktor help file the card must have them to use my headphones and listen to music at the same time.

You can either make your own 3.5mm/6.3mm to RCA cables or buy some from a speaker store for example. If you decide to make your own you only need a few things.

List of parts
RCA cable (with male RCA plugs on both ends)
3.5mm/6.3mm stereo male plug
Soldering iron & solder (of course)
Heatshrink tubing or electrical tape

Cut the RCA cable in half, expose the wires a bit on both of the new cables. Then solder the cables in the appropriate way to the 3.5/6.3mm male plug. You should have a Y shaped cable, remember to put on some heatshrink , before soldering, on the RCA cables so that you can then cover the wires after soldering.

Do note that I haven't done this myself but this is how I would do it, I've only had to solder my mono guitar cables.

thanks mrjack. Ill give it a try, unless I can find another card with RCA inputs and these multiple outputs.

I use an Audigy NX 2 and it works great. Done a lot of live recording as well as MIDI, soft-synth, sequencing with it. I just use an RCA to 1/8 adapter to get sound into the card with no problems. Good Luck.
