Couldn't find a previous post of this. Sometimes (not a lot) my computer will all of a sudden go to a black screen. And there is nothing i can do, nothing i can press, but shut it down the bad way (hold power button down). I've tried tapping the power button, i've tried ctl-alt-del, i've tried typing in my start password, everything.
Its a toshiba laptop (:()
Windows vista ultimate...prob 32 bit. most def.
umm AMD turion64

Has it always does this?
If not when did it start, does it do anything else weird like lines or anything?
Try pluging it into an external monitor when it happens and see if anything displays on the external.

Hmm. Will my tv serve as an external monitor? I can hook my laptop up to my tv. And actually when i first opened it out of the box I turned it on and 15 min later it did it. It was weird. It doesnt happen a lot, and no there are no other reactions, no lines or anything.

Are you using it when it does it or do you leave it alone for 15 minutes and then it does it?

I'll be using it and then it does it. I dont leave it on for more than 10 hour because it's a laptop, but it seems like the reason why it does it is because it's over heated or something, which sucks. I just wanna know how to turn the screen back on.

I'm not sure how hot it gets, and i know not to put it on soft surfaces because it traps the fan, so it's usually on a desk.

If it keeps doing it and it's not super warm contact the place you got it from to make sure it's not your backlit or anything.

I don't know if you've resolved your problem or not so here goes...

I use my Laptop with my 42" LCD TV. I use an HDMI cable for hookup but you can use a DB-15 RGB cable as well if your TV supports it.

If nothing appears on the screen, try (I forget now...) the F4 or F8 key to get to safe mode. Other than verifying external sliding switches, this is all I can think of.

Good Luck.
