Hi, I am pretty much a computer dummy, so here is a question this dummy hopes will come across well enough that someone may be able to answer it. I have an eMachines desktop computer built in 2005 with 512mb ram. A friend upgraded the memory in his 2008 eMachines desktop, and has two sticks of 512mb ram that he will sell to me. Will my friend's ram from his 2008 eMachines fit and work in my 2005 eMachines? Thanks for any help!

Can you provide an exact model number for your computer?

Sometimes computers like that have custom motherboards built and it can be hard to gather information with just a date you bought it.

A model number would be great:D

My computer model number is W3052, thanks.

Max Supported RAM 2 GB
Supported RAM Speeds 400 MHz • 333 MHz

if your friends 2 sticks are ddr400 (pc3200) or 333 they will work

I called my friend and he could not find those numbers on the sticks, however, my eMachine's model number is W3052, and my friend's eMachine's model number is W3644, if this helps. Thanks!
