RAID 5 Array Rebuild

Hey guys, just stopping by for some advice.

I have a new server parts ordered at work(I work for UVA in IT). Whenever the parts are delivered, it's going to be a CentOS 5.3 server with VMware Server on it. I have five Seagate 500GB hard disks on the way, a Q8400, and 8GB of RAM.

This server will run an intranet for my department's employees along with running as a NAS appliance. So it cannot lose data or I will get chewed on for it. Therefore I plan to implement a RAID 5 array.

I need to know how to rebuild the array in the event that a single disk fails. Does anybody here know how to do the rebuild?

Thanks!:)

you would rebuild the failed drive in your raid controller. youd replace the drive, and go into the settings and rebuild the raid. your motherboard might support it, if not you'd have to get a raid controller

It's going to be software RAID within CentOS. Would there be some type of utility within Linux/CentOS that I am missing?

Thanks
