q9550 or 285 gtx

My friend has a e6600 @ 3ghz, 8 gb ram and 2x 9800 gtx+ sli. He is not happy with the performance, so hes asking me what I would do. He wants either a q9550 or a 285 gtx, which would give him the biggest performance increase?

GTX285, upgrading a socket 775 cpu from q6600 to Q9550 is pretty much worthless imo.

Oh, whoops. I would say definately upgrade to a quadcore then, maybe even something AMD if your looking to not waste money on something you cant really upgrade.

Yeah upgrade that cpu...when i went from a e6300 to a q6600 it was one hell of a upgrade.

i cant see his gpus been a bottleneck.

Yeah I would upgrade the CPU then snag a cheap GTX 260 on craigslist. I did it and I can't complain ^-^

two 9800gtx in sli are quite a bit better than a single gtx260
