PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM - Need help reformatting laptop!

Hey guys, sorry if this problem has been solved however my friend entrusted that I would reformat his laptop in which I have encountered some issues! He recently purchased a Lenovo G50-30 that came pre-installed with a distasteful W8.1. He wanted me to reformat his laptop to W7. Usually this process is quite straight forward however this was my first time trying to move from W8.1 to W7. Changing some bios settings I was able to boot from USB and begin installing the OS.

As I was installing the OS I decided that I would delete the multiple partitions that were already on there and I also formatted the HDD. This may have turned out to be the key mistake. Unfortunately I was unable to begin the installation process with the main HDD as it would not allow me to click next.

As I start up the laptop every time, I am faced with:

PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.

I am unable to enter BIOS also, however I am able to boot from my USB stick and begin the OS installation again if that helps.

I am sorry if this problem has already been solved but I have looked around for some solution and I can't find anything specific to this problem. I will also include a photo.

Thanks in advance guys!

Does it just remain greyed out or present an error? Are you able to manually specify partitions?

Edit:
You're only getting that PXE prompt and extra since there are no bootable devices on the system and it goes through the bootable device list until hitting the NIC. Since the previous bootable partitions were purged from the hard drive you aren't able to boot from that until you can get an OS reinstalled.

Hi beers, it remains greyed out and it also presents an error saying - Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition . (Show details) Once clicked on: The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.

There is:
Disk 0 Unallocated Space
Disk 0 Partition 1 (type) Primary
Disk 0 Unallocated Space

All of which show an error and are greyed out, however im trying to install it onto Disk 0 partition 1.

Remove all of the existing ones until it just says Unallocated Space, then you should be able to hit Next and it will create everything for you.

Download and create a dban or killdisk cd and boot to it. Then delete everything on the drive and set the drive as an mbr partition. Then you can install windows 7.

Thanks for the suggestion! unfortunately I am unable to delete the three options as the delete option remains greyed out.

Hi johnb35, I have tried the methods you suggested but came to a dead end as I was unable to figure out how to change the drive and set it as an mbr partition as I am unable to boot into an existing OS. After this I went to try and reinstall W7 and the error says that I need to make some settings changed within the BIOS in order to install onto the partition. After realizing that I was using a laptop instead of a computer, I managed to get into the BIOS with the handy Fn button! however I am now unsure on what type of settings I should use in order for the installation setup to recognize the partition. I am now also receiving a blue screen stating:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x00000011, 0x00000008, 0xFFD14010, 0x00040000)

I would have uploaded a picture but unfortunately it will not allow me.

Finally got myself back to the process of installing onto a partition. As I said before im not too sure on how to convert the drive from GPT to MBR. The error now goes on to further saying:

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

I have finally got it to install! So I did some digging around the internet and learned how to convert the HD to MBR, which finally allowed me to install the OS! One thing that surprised me was the ability to open CMD on the installation screen. I can now say that I have learned something new today, thanks a lot beers and johnb35!

Going from windows 8 to 7 is sort of difficult when you have to change a couple bios settings and possibly change the partition type from GPT to MBR in order to install.

I should have told you to use the bootable version of Minitool partition wizard. You would have been able to delete all partitions and change the partition type to whatever you wanted. It's a great program, I use it.

http://www.minitool.com/C3883AF0-D8F8-4CAB-83D8-DA6497F1C8CC/pwfree9.iso

It's an iso file so you would have to use burning software that works with iso files to write the image to a cd. Windows 7 has this ability built in. Just click on the iso file after downloading and windows image burner pops up.
