I'm putting a new PSU into my computer. I've never done this before. Is there anyting special I need to know besides being grounded?

Make sure it fits in the case I guess. Whats your rig, and what are you planning on getting?

I have an emachines t6212. it currently has a 300 watt in it and I'm putting in a antec 500watt becaseu I ordered a 7900 gt. It does fit. I looked into that.

It should be fine then, just make sure there's 30A or more on the 12V. Check the power rating, it'l tell ya there.

It has 36 amps which should be fine...I don't really need the 500 watt psu but it was 6 dollars more than the 450watt and has more cords and crap if I ever get a new mobo and try to sli or something. But dumb question. so long as it has the right pin for the mobo won't this work with an amd processor?
