Hello,

someone offers me to buy a new Dell Inspiron 6000 with no garantee at a price 400$CDN under the one at Dell.ca (same laptop). Is a garantee on theses laptop really necessary? Are they reliable enough to buy a new one without a garantee? what are the risks of an inpiron 6000 notebook to be defective within a year (normal garantee)?

thank you!

i have 2 inspiron 6000 and i love them no problems except the 't' key fell out on one so i had to put it back in but that was a piece of cake.

Well I wouldn't call it "necessary" but it's totally up to the user. Most people dont buy extended warranties unless they know they may be a little tough on their systems. Just like Cell phones, one would by insurance because they know they might be going to drop it or loose it. One would buy extra fire insurance on their house because they live next to dry brush. Or buy extra insurance on their car if they live in Chinatown because people can't drive there (hey, I'm asian, I can joke about it ;)) So I'd say it's totally up to you, if you see yourself traveling with it on a daily basis and banging it up or have a bunch of kids/siblings messing with it, I'd get the extra warranty. It's just piece of mind. So really, how much of warranty does it come with? If none, are you buying it from some guy's trunk in a deserted alley? :P

I'm also Chinese LaptopExtreme, never been to a Chinatown tho. If I ere buying the laptop, I'd get it from official Dell because I've been ripped off by fly-by-night sellers before *glares at 6-pack of 'LED' fans w/o LED*

I'm in Los Angeles, and the chinatown here is horrible (especially on the weekends). I could also vouch for San Francisco and NY- the only other chinatowns I've been through. Well since you're only 13, you wouldnt know how bad those drivers are. Well if you're a pedestrian, just look both ways... actually look all ways.... twice! ;)
