hey guys im new to this forum but i thought i would just go to you guys for some help

just recently i knocked my NEW computer over when it was off, (lets not get into the story though), and when i went to turn it back on it stayed on for about 10 seconds and then shut down on its own. THen i tryed again and it lasted about 15 seconds or so. BAsically every time i turn it on it lasts a random amount of seconds, and then just dies... Anyways i open up the comp and check to see that the CPU, RAM, wires, etc were plugged in properly. FInally i tryed turning it on one more time.. and same thing again...

IM thinking that when my comp fell over something in my psu came loose, but not sure.

Any Ideas???

thanks

Are you completely sure that the computer is starting up at random times? Hard drive could be broken, but then it would just stay there and say that a HDD couldn't be detected... hmmm

How hard did this thing fall anyway? The CPU wouldn't be damaged unless you dropped it from the second story of your house.

Yes, my computer is shutting down at random times, and it never lasts for more than about 50 seconds.

By the way, when i dropped my copmtuer it was only about a couple inches off the ground.

Actually when i tried booting up one more time, i got to the desktop and everyhting loaded up. Bu then this window came up saying: "CPU temperatures are abnormal" "Copmtuer will shut down now". THen the comptuer shut down.

So i guees theres a problem with my CPU....
By the way... all my fans are working and i do have Artic Silver 5 on my CPU aswell. Before this incedent i had an idle temperature of about 39.

help!!!

Hmmm... check the HSF again. If it has to do with the CPU temps it's gotta be the hsf or you f***** up your CPU... hopefully it's the first one :D

Same, currently Im having the same problem (Read my Overheating thread). When I turn it on, it lasts random minutes (sometimes up to 10 mins, sometimes a few seconds), and turns off. When I turn it back on, it says CPU is overheating. A lot of people say I have damaged my CPU. Hopefully I didnt;)

It's probably the auto shutdown kicking in from the bios, reseat the HSF and put some of that extra AC5 to good use =)

Hey thnx guys

I didnt pay for my CPU anyways, i got it for my birthday from my cousin.

So its about time i payed for a CPU :)

ill check again to just make sure and ill update you guys
