Stackell

New Member
I got a quick question for you guys..

Im about to start my own company selling computer sleeves. I want to hear your opinion about the name: Stackell

How does this sound in your ears? (strange, okay) this is not an american product so thats why I´m asking. Maybe I should reconsidering a more international name, just in case.

Thanks

Well... I'm going to go even more specific on the pronunciation (by syllable).

Stack | Elle
Sta | Kelle

I like the second one better.

Sta | Kelle is the the correct pronunciation.

But most of the people visiting my homepage wont know how to say it, thats why im wondering what you think of the name just when you first spot it? (Im aware that its not english word)

Thanks for your feedback Scott

I actually like the sound of that, very nice ring to it :D damn it, now im repeating the word over and over again in my head. lol

Well if your considering a name that is going to be a consumer brand that needs to spread via word of mouth, it's a bad name. A good name has characteristics of being able to be spelled by telling someone the name over the phone. The fact that there was a reply asking how to pronounce it and having to explain it, shows it's a bad choice honestly. But if that isn't how you will be getting visitors etc, than it doesn't matter at all. Specially if it is a B2B site.

I prefer the name Stac - Kelle .... like BM said, has a nice ring to it and find myself saying it over and over in my head.

I think names that are abnormal are good names for companies. People tend to try and say them over and over to get the name right. In this way, they are inputting a memory of what the name sounds like and what the name is spelled like. This helps because people will recognize your company name and know that they have seen or heard it before.

Although during advertising efforts, you might want to add a company motto. This will educate the consumer on what Stackelle actually does. So when they find that they are in a situation where someone is looking for a computer sleeve brand, the person that has seen and heard your company name before can easily relate that name to the product.

Example: If i gave you the name of a company named "Barker's Performance" can you tell me just from the name, what that company makes? No. You know that it is performance of some sort, but what that company actually produces is unknown.

For years Barker's Performance has been known as "Barker Exhaust". Nowhere on the name does it say that it manufacturers exhaust, but that is what people call it. Why is this? Because Barker for the longest time had the motto: Barker's Performance Exhaust on their product.

http://www.barkersexhaust.com/

Even in their website address, you can see that they basically modified their name to what is known.

So having a rare name is good, keeps people saying the name to get an understanding of how it is spelled and pronounced. Motto with a name is awesome, because it describes the rare company name of what it actually does.

Hope this helps.

P.s : hopefully this makes sense, i just got home from chicken wings and beer and am a little tipsy, so i tend to ramble.
